With its upcoming November update, Apple Creator Studio subscribers will get direct access to thousands of MotionVFX effects, titles and templates within Final Cut Pro.
Apple has announced new tools and editing features for Final Cut Pro as part of an update to Apple Creator Studio, its subscription bundle of apps for video production, music creation and image editing. Leading the changes is built-in access to MotionVFX effects, templates and motion graphics for Final Cut Pro on Mac.
MotionVFX makes plug-ins and templates for adding visual effects and animated graphics to videos, including customizable titles, transitions between shots and graphics that follow a moving subject. Previously an independent company, Apple acquired MotionVFX in March. Apple is now integrating MotionVFX’s products directly into Final Cut Pro, at least for Creator Studio subscribers.
AppleIt appears that those who purchased Final Cut Pro outright can continue using MotionVFX with a separate MotionVFX subscription. Those plans were previously available and remain listed on the company’s website, though Apple hasn’t provided an exact comparison of the content included through each route, or details on whether those plans will stick around.
Apple is also bringing its Content Hub into Final Cut Pro, allowing editors to browse curated stock videos, photos and backgrounds without leaving the app. Adobe already offers similar in-app access to stock assets through Adobe Stock in Premiere and other Creative Cloud apps. New image-generation tools in Final Cut Pro will let users create still images from text descriptions, make edits and adjust visual styles within a project.

For editors working with still images as well, the update introduces round-trip editing with Pixelmator Pro. Users can open an image from their Final Cut Pro timeline in Pixelmator Pro, edit it and save the changes back to the project automatically, without manually reimporting it.
Other additions focus on everyday editing tasks. New keyframe easing options provide finer control over animations, while editors can disconnect clips from the primary storyline and position them elsewhere on the timeline. Transcription support expands by 23 languages, making captioning and searching footage accessible to more users.

Motion, Apple’s separate motion graphics app, also gains built-in MotionVFX plug-ins for cinematic color grading, 3D camera tracking and one-click selection. Its updates include image-generation tools and a similar Pixelmator Pro round-trip workflow.
The updates arrive in November at no additional charge for existing Apple Creator Studio subscribers. The suite, which includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage, costs $13 per month or $129 per year in the US. Eligible college students and educators pay $3 per month or $30 per year. Final Cut Pro for Mac remains available as a $300 one-time purchase.
