With 20mm F2.4 and 40mm F2.2 options, the new Swift series gives Sony E, Fujifilm X, and L-mount users more budget-friendly choices.
Sirui has announced a new series of prime, autofocus lenses. The Swift lineup includes two focal lengths at launch – 20mm F2.4 and 40mm F2.2 – both of which are compact, lightweight offerings that are available in L, E and X mounts for just $149.
Unlike Viltrox’s similarly affordable 20mm F2.8 and 40mm F2.5 Air lenses, both Swift primes include useful on-lens controls. That includes a clicked aperture ring, a manual focus ring, a customizable Fn button and an AF/MF switch.
SiruiBoth of the Swift lenses are compatible with 58mm filters. A stepper motor drives autofocus in each lens, with Sirui promising minimal focus breathing. They each feature a nine-bladed aperture diaphragm. The company also says the lenses are weather-resistant, with protection against dust and splashes.
The 20mm F2.4 lens features an 11-element in 9-group optical design, with 2 aspherical, 2 ED and 2 HRI elements. It can focus as close as 0.2m (0.65′). Sirui doesn’t provide weights or measurements for the X-mount model, but the L-mount version weighs 212g (7.5oz), while the E-mount comes in at 207g (7.3oz). They measure 60.3mm (2.4″) and 62.3mm (2.5″) long, respectively.
SiruiThe 40mm F2.2 lens features a slightly different optical design, with 11 elements in 8 groups. That includes one aspherical lens and two ED elements. Its minimum focusing distance is 0.4m (1.3′). Its size and weight are very similar to the 20mm lens, with the E-mount version weighing 210g (7.4oz) and measuring 62.3mm (2.5″). The L-mount model weighs 215g (7.6oz) and measures 60mm (2.36″).
The new Swift 20mm F2.4 and 40mm F2.2 are available to pre-order now for $149.
